Happy Birthday Mary Anning

Today is Mary Anning's 215th birthday, check out the cool Google doodle and write up in this great blog!

Mary is one of the most well known, female paleontologist (from the pre-20th Century) and is a great example someone who became great by doing something they loved. Mary made some fabulous discoveries of Jurassic marine creatures on the British coast (ammonites, ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, pterosaurs, etc.) and got to work in one of the coolest localities... Lyme Regis!

Ammonites galore!

Also, if you haven't seen it, be sure to check out Ellen Currano's blog, she is showcasing awesome female paleontologists this month (and today is Mary)!

If I were a coral...

The New England Aquarium is amazing! And their exhibits are very well done!
A great summary ;)
Corals!

There are a ton of beautiful exhibits on marine life. Including some touch pools!

European Lobster

Leafy Seadragon!

Ctenophores.... Look at that bioluminescence!

Itty Bitty Seahorse Committee!

As a paleontologist, every now and then it's fun to see my beasties alive!!
